The Quarantine CHOP

Image
I haven't made it into a salon since early 2020, so my hair was long, heavy and style-less. Most of the time, it was going directly from shower into a bun.  Time for a BIG CHOP!  BEFORE:  And AFTER:  And I got 8inches + off, so I can donate it to charity. I found this one: Children With Hair Loss that will take my hair -- even with a few strands of gray! So off my little ponytails go ...  and I feel about 20lbs lighter!

What I'm Diggin' in November 2017

Image
There's frost on the ground and I just pulled out my puffy Northface coat ... so it must be November. Here's my latest list of what I'm loving right now. I've got the most fantastic print/shipping place just around the corner and I'm so grateful. With all the documents I need for the move, and all the stuff I'm shipping away, they're making my life just a little easier. And the guys there are so helpful and sweet! I used them in September to color print Alice's birthday invitations from this lovely Etsy shop , and it was super easy and not expensive. Don't you just love a small business with great customer service! Outlander: Jamie and Fergus (from EW.com) Guys, Outlander is back and I'm totally in love with it again. I have to say the Paris storyline last season was not my favorite, but this season is completely on fire. I've got a major crush on grown-up Fergus, though Jamie is still my main man. There are not many shows I consid...

To Hair Cut or Not to Hair Cut

Image
Trying to decide if I need a haircut. It's pretty darn long.  Though, all my favorite HGTV stars * have long hair, and if they can rehab a 100 year building with long hair, why can't I do my office job with the same?  So I'm debating.  Hello Ends - Did You Make Like a Banana and Split? * The hairstyle of my favorite HGTV stars should have no baring on my own hair. But, alas, it does.

The Two-Pencil Do

Image
Nothing worse that leaving your hair down for work and then going crazy pulling it out of your face all day. Thus, I mastered the two-pencil upsweep yesterday. Though it took me the morning to figure out the mechanics, it stayed secure all afternoon ... leaving my neck to bask in the lovely breeze of office air conditioning. Two-Pencil Updo It'd call that a win for the week.

My First Attempt at Crown Braiding

Image
I love the look of a crown braid, and now that my hair is getting longer, I thought I might be able to do it. It's SUPER THICK so, if I can get it right, the braid will be voluminous and fetching.  Jess, a cute blogger who posts pretty pictures, wrote up a tutorial this week  so I had to try it.  Awk. It's a lot harder than it looks. I don't have the manual dexterity to braid behind my head. But, I suppose, if I continue to practice, my little fingers might be able to figure it out.  Here's my first attempt:  It Started Out Pretty Well And It All Fell Apart Around the Back Those little bitty clips are helpful to hold the braid together. Maybe I'll try with wet hair next.
