Green Be Gone in the Girls' Bathroom

Image
I love painting rooms ... until I have to do a bathroom. Sure, it's usually less wall area to paint, but I'm not a fan of obstacles. And contorting around a toilet or over a shower isn't my idea of a good time. Suffice it to say, I've been avoiding painting the girls' green bathroom because of this. Well, no more!  I needed a WIN this weekend and knew that bathroom was just the thing to get my home-project-heart pumping again.  Here's what we started with ... green and dirty walls, an old and ugly light fixtures and a mirror no one liked.  By the end of the day, we had creamy (yup, Swiss Coffee by Behr) walls and two new scones not covered in dust and grime.  I even hung some shelves, so they have more room to hang all their products (they love shopping at Ulta or Sephora).  I just need to incorporate more hooks for towels and hang the new/old mirror. They're taking the Target mirror I got a few years ago that's currently hanging in my bedroom -- a bit o

Golden Girls Weekend

First, I'll admit that it took me WAY TOO LONG to rename our weekend Golden Girls. So I'll be using that a lot to make amends.  Our sister-in-law had a great idea last year while languishing away through COVID quarantine -- we need to get the ladies together. My three sisters, Mom and her ... let's go away! We settled on Denver so we could see a Brandi Carlilie concert at Red Rocks. Got tickets last winter and pulled it all together little by little. We were not surprised when ALL the sisters confirmed they could go. We love being all together.  I found a brand-new hotel (I love a new hotel) that just opened in Golden, and that brought the whole thing together. Cities are great to explore, but smaller nearby towns are way more managable for a weekend. So we booked it and that was that.  Here are some details and recommendations from our trip:  We stayed at the Eddy Hotel in Golden. We all shared a large room for the weekend but spend most of our time in the lobby. Lobbies

Is That the Same Garage?!

It's been A LOT of work, but we got the garage gym together and we are SO excited.  Here's the progression of the work done ..   1. We wanted to use this corner of our 2.5 bay garage for the gym, but there wasn't enough headspace for the rig and the floor was slopped. (The entire floor was gross, too.) 2. We hired contractors to take up the ceiling and build a little deck to even out the floor. Rolling weight bars are just unsafe. 3. Then, we painted the whole garage (well almost), and as much as we could before the floor epoxy guys shows up to finish the floor. 4. The floor epoxy was my favorite level-up. The floor was a gross mess with gunk in every corner. It was amazing to walk into the garage without shoes.  5. Then, we pulled together the gym! Lots of light. Room for the rig. A chalkboard to record PR and workouts. And the black mats to protect it all.  It's exactly what we were hoping to end up with. The next thing we need to do is some organization and shelving.
