Front Porch Makeover - The Sofa Fabric

I scored this week on the sofa fabric for the Front Porch project. I got it at our Loomcraft Outlet that I've been to many times before for other curtain/upholstery projects of the past. My only two criteria for this fabric was: outdoor fabrics with navy in it and affordable. Here's what I found: Waverly Sun n Shade Outdoor Fabric  It was $9.99/yard, so I spent just over $40 on all that I'll need. Though, I'm not against returning to Loomcraft for some contrasting pillow fabric. Oh yes! Here's what that front porch sofa looking like again. We got it for our house in New Jersey probably eight years ago. There's a back cushion, too. It was soaked from all the rain, so it's drying out nearby. Once the cushions are dry. I can can them and get their facelift started. Related Posts: Related Posts: Front Porch BEFORE pictures All Front Porch posts Seriously, have you seen my basement?

Guess What!? I Love Crafting!

If there's one thing I take away from this little sabbatical as a stay at home mom it's this: I really enjoy creating things with my hands. When I was a working full-time, driving kids around, stressing about dinner and passing out at the end of each day, crafting was very low on my daily priority list. Weekends were about spending time with family, maybe painting a wall and reading. Not much else to cram in there. But now that I'm home all day and have gotten some really big house projects done, I'm able to indulge in just crafting to craft. And with the holidays, I have the best excuse to create holiday decor things for family members and to pretty-up the house. I forgot how much I love to make things. I have bins and bins of crafting supplies that I've been collecting here and there but never had time to sort through and create. Now free time is finally here and I'm totally indulging in it ... and feeling sincerely grateful for it. Anyway, here's ...

My New Cabinet of Joy

The Original Spot for Fabrics. A Mess Although I'm not at all focused on decorating our office, I was DONE digging for fabric in the corner cabinet. It was a dark spot and my little collection had outgrown it. So while searching for the dining room cabinet of my dreams -- that just doesn't exist, sigh -- I stumbled on this little yellow cabinet from Martha Stewart. I have always aspired to have a place where my pretty (and growing) fabric collection could be stored and displayed. This cabinet just happened to the be the perfect dimension for this corner of the office and the glass doors can be closed up while the pretty fabrics can still be seen. Sure, it's veneer and wobbles a little, but it's cute and I could probably cover the glass at some point with frosted contact paper or pretty decorative paper. Bonus! Yellow Cabinet Filled With Crafts and Games A place for all the lovely fabric, crafts and some games?! Oh be still my heart. I'm falling de...

Curtains on the Slider

Drum roll please ... The final curtains over the porch doors look awesome! And they are functional, too! (Sorry about the foggy picture!)
