 I stumbled upon this quote in Instagram land and I loved it so much I framed it in acrylic and have it displayed in my kitchen.  It's everything I want to say to the people I cook for.  Sigh. I love a good quote.

Brides Are So Pretty Remember when summers were spent at friends' weddings? In lieu of vacations, you'd take weekend trips to wedding destinations, get dressed up and dance with all your friends. Really, it was a pretty great way to spend your summer weekends. Then, you get into your late 30s and find no weddings on your calendar for a full year or more. That's just how these things go, I guess. We went to a wedding last fall in New Jersey, and that was the first one in about a year. My brother, who is in his late 20s, has seven weddings this summer. Seven. And it got me thinking about weddings in general. First of all, if I had had Pinterest  or Instagram before my own wedding 11 years ago, things would have gone down a lot differently. I am completely jealous of all those lucky brides planning their own weddings with access to that brain trust of ideas. Not to mention TinyPrints and Etsy (where were you when I needed you!?) I mean, you girls have no excuses...

This is why I love books so much; I'll read a passage in a book that explains something about myself that I never could put into simple words. Or never thought deep enough about to explain. Like this: "Part of the problem with parties was that I couldn't even tell what the goal was, so I never knew when I was done."   I have more in common with Isabel from Maggie Steifvater's Shiver series than I care to admit, and this quote rang so true for me I grabbed a pen and underlined it. Then remembered it was a library book. Whoops. This quote is from Sinner , a new companion book to the Shiver series that ties up the Isabel/Cole storyline. I'd love to read The Fault in Our Stars someday. John Green is a great writer and an all-around smart guy. But, as I've stated before, I have boundary issues with books and a YA novel about teens with cancer is way more than I can handle. I'd cry for days. Every once in a while I get a quote so lodged up in my brain that it haunts me. I hear it over and over again, in the speakers voice, and I wrack my brain trying to come up with the name of the movie it comes from. The latest quotes was "...keen to be near you.." -- said in a low, melancholy British man. Of course, I assume Austen, but can't come up with the movie. I did more searching tonight and found the source of the quote. Hooray hooray! It is Austen. Well, movie Austen. From "Emma," the version with Gwyneth Paltrow.
