Team Jess!

Image
We've been binging on Gilmore Girls episodes before the new-season/continuation starts on Netflix next week. I started with Season 4 and have been getting reacquainted with the characters of Stars Hallow. And I'm reminded how firmly I'm Team Jess!  Though, Logan does have his good qualities!! Team Jess All The Way Have been reading a little about the new season in Entertainment Weekly and hoping it will "fix" the awfulness that was season 7. The new episodes release at the end of this week on Netflix. Yippee!!

What I'm Diggin' in June 2016

Here's what I'm currently loving ... The Man From U.N.C.L.E . -- this movie was on my must-see list since it came out: the two main actors are SUPER HOT, it's a Guy Richie movie and they are always quotable (we trade quotes from Snatch almost daily) and what's more fun than the Cold War?! Oh, and I'm a sucker for Hugh Grant. But David thought it looked boring, so we didn't go. Then, David saw it on a plane without me and said it was "boring." So I waited. Finally it's out on HBO and I made time to watch it ... and I thought it was awesome. Sure, it's missing all the intensity of the new Bond/superhero movies, but it's fun and Oh! the eye candy all around. Lots of expensive suits and cool Italian cars. The one thing I would add -- just one shirtless scene. Is that too much to ask? It's S'Well! It Really Is! My S'well bottle - I don't know what witchcraft is at work but the water in this bottle stays cold,...

Hellooooo Mr Grey/Mr Dornan

Image
Allow me to fangirl for a minute here.... because Jamie Dornan is just so very handsome! I'm so pleased they are filming Fifty Shades sequels right now because my Instagram feed is full of on-set pictures from all the fandom folks I'm following. It's DELIGHTFUL to be scrolling through my feed and find this gorgeous face. Kissy Kissy!  I'm Adorable!  This One Captions Itself I left the account names on my fun little screengrabs, in case you're looking for more pictures. And, yes, there is A LOT more pictures.. and more coming almost every day. Thank you obsessive fans!

An Archive of All The Boys I've Loved Before

I was flipping through a journal I created in 1995 that included magazine pictures that once hung from the walls of my teen-year's bedroom. When I moved out for college, I had to clear the walls (and room) for my little sister who moved in. So everything got pasted into this journal -- except for the large posters of Keanu and the Young Guns movie poster, they were probably trashed. OK, so my taste in cute boys was flawless, but this makes me feel a bit old, right? Bruce Willis with hair!?! Leo! My darling, tragic River?! And friggin' Jordan Catalano! My So-Called Life and LEO This journal also had my thoughts and feelings on life, poetry and profound quotes, neat vocabulary words, names of my future children, and MANY more pages of cute boys. It's actually pretty cool. I have diaries and journals dating back to when I was 11 stored away, but this one is a definite favorite. I can't wait for Leah to page through this when she's a teenager.

The Golden Globes: This is MY Super Bowl

Image
Don't judge me but I loove award shows! And particularly the Golden Globes because I get to see TV and movie stars mingle. So last night, I sent the girls up to play Mario Kart, I poured myself a glass of wine and basked in the glory that is red carpet and award show hoopla. Not that I saw any of the movies or TVs up for awards -- that hardly mattered. Especially when Christian Slater high-fived Leo on the way to get his reward and my 15-year-old-self exploded. Or when Brad and Ryan were on stage together and my brain couldn't comprehend the hotness on my TV -- or maybe that was just the wine. Anyway... I also used my NEW pressure cooker last night for the first time, making a Beef, Barley and Vegetable Stew from the Martha Steward One Pot cookbook. The pressure cooker is a little intimidating to use, just think about all that built-up pressure sitting on your counter. Plus, you can't see into the thing to know what's going on inside there. But the stew came ou...

Currently Crushing On Outlander

Image
Geez! It took me long enough to clear out some time to watch the Outlander series on Starz. And OH BOY am I glad that I did. I knew this show was going to be right in my wheelhouse. History? Check. Pretty dresses? Yes. Romance? Oh yes. Handsome boy? Check! And he's in a kilt! And often shirtless! And with a thick Scottish accent! Does it get friggin better?! Claire, the main character, is growing on me. She's no damsel in distress, which is excellently refreshing. She yells and heads people and knocks out attackers with a chair. She takes care of herself. And she wears thick knit scarves and fingerless gloves, so now all I want to do is knit chunky accessories. The only drawback is I can't understand some of the dialogue because of the Scottish accents. They slip into Gaelic and back to English while I'm lost drinking in scenery or longing looks. But it's moving slow, so I'm not missing any big plot points (I don't think). I'm already on ep...
