| Leah's First Day (She Was Embarrassed) |
They. Are. Great.
First, they both LOVE school. They got buddies their first day to show them around and they quickly made them best friends. Their teachers have been supportive and, with the exception of French which they find very difficult, they've been getting very involved in their classes.
Alice's school is within two blocks, and she loves to scooter there. Leah is further away, and she's looking forward to commuting with friends -- we're working up to it. Both are such suburban kids; they have no idea how to safely cross a street. Yet. We're learning.
Other than school, the girls finally got the cell phones we promised them and they're freaking out over being able to call and text. While at the mall Sunday, I got a call from Alice from the other side of the store. They jumped to set up (private) Instagram accounts. So now we're teaching them basic mobile manners.

We've only had two weekends here but we're starting to explore the neighborhood for things they like to do and, especially, eat. They've been trying chocolate croissants at all the local patisseries, rating their favorites. Like good city kids, they're taking advantage of park and playgrounds nearby, despite the rain, and on Sunday we found an indoor climbing gym they enjoyed.
Inside the new apartment, they've both spent time setting up their new rooms, arranging toys and getting themselves comfortable in our new spaces. And the access to Netflix and the Disney Channel allows them to watch their favorite shows ... when their homework is done. It doesn't sound like much, but familiar shows helps with homesickness.
They DO miss their friends and we talk about the house, dogs, relatives often. And they DO get on each other's nerves quiet a lot. We've been definitely all together more than usual and it shows. But that's to be expected, I think.
So, yeah, the kids doing are A-Ok.
